Welcome to the fourth grade at Shanghai American School!
It is my pleasure to introduce myself as your child’s new fourth grade teacher. This is my ninth year at SAS and prior to teaching here, I have taught in Southern China, Malaysia, Senegal, and The United States. This is my 17th year teaching fourth grade. I am looking forward to another wonderful year here at the Shanghai American School.
Our special classes schedule will follow a seven-day rotation schedule. You will be provided with a copy of our class timetable for your reference.
Students in the fourth grade are expected to complete homework daily for forty minutes each evening, consisting of reading, reading response assignments, weekly word study activities, math practice, writing assignments, or other things we are working on in class. There will be some projects that will require time at home to complete. Homework will provide an opportunity for students to re-enforce the skills they are working on in class.
Each student will have an assignment book that they are expected to carry to and from school each day. In this book, assignments will be listed. Please support me by checking this notebook each night. If for any reason, your child is unable to complete any of the assignments or if you have any questions please send me a note or email.
We enjoy celebrating birthdays in 4SR. Please let me know in advance if you would like to send in a special treat (something that does not need to be cut, e.g., cupcakes, brownies, muffins, or cookies) to celebrate your child’s birthday.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to send a note with your child, leave a message at the office, or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I am looking forward to meeting you at our Open House on September 9th and once again, I am looking forward to a great year with you and your child.
Mr. Steven Rohrbeck
