Dear 5SH Parents,
A special thank you goes to the chaperons who helped with the fifth grade field trip to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum on Thursday. We had a great trip and the children had some wonderful learning experiences.
Next week will be another busy one for our fifth graders. Band and orchestra students will need to bring their instruments for extra rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday. The Fifth Grade Spring Concert will be on Wednesday morning at 9:00. I have listened to the children practicing during rehearsals. They are amazing. All the practicing that you have had to listen to this year is paying off in a big way. Prepare for an outstanding concert on Wednesday morning.
The Fifth Grade Transition Ceremony will be Friday afternoon at 1:00. This is a child-friendly event. The children will wear their class t-shirts for the occasion. Our room parents have been working to make this a memorable event for our students and parents.
Students need to return their Build Our Nation social studies books.

Puxi Middle School
Student Supply List (2016/17)
These lists are meant to get students started but teachers may request that students obtain additional supplies as the year progresses.
•All students must carry their SAS Identification (ID) cards with them whenever they are on campus.
•Students need to bring pencils and lined paper to each class. Students may want two binders: one for core subjects and one for non-core subjects.
•Students should bring healthy snacks for breather and a reusable water bottle (labeled with name).
• Home access to the internet and a working printer are required since we are a 1:1 laptop school.
Specialist Class Supplies
• Language Classes – All supplies are contained in the grade level supply lists that follow.
• Band – (a) Need to bring oils, grease and cleaning swabs or brushes appropriate for their instrument; (b) binder with 20 plastic sheet protectors; (c) Reed players to bring a supply of appropriate strength reeds and a reed protector.
• Orchestra students to bring: (a) 2 sets of good quality strings and rosin; (b) a binder with 20 plastic sheet protectors.
• Physical Education (PE) – All students are required to have:
•a swimsuit, goggles and towels for the swim unit.
•a water bottle for all classes and a hat and sunscreen during hot weather.
•A PE uniform and appropriate footwear for daily use – recommend purchasing two uniform sets from the Eagle store. Note that in the interest of personal hygiene, all students are required to change clothing prior to and after their PE class. Showers are available and highly encouraged (towels must be brought from home)
•Gloves, hooded sweatshirts and/or rain gear for classes outside during the cold, wet months.
•Asthma sufferers MUST bring their inhalers to class and follow its prescribed use.
Grade 6 Class Supplies
•pencil case with pencils, erasers, pencil sharpener, pens (red and blue or black), highlighters, glue stick
• labeled memory stick (flash, USB drive)
•large zippered binder or blue SAS zippered binder (available at the Eagle Shop)
•earbuds for laptop computer use
•hard drive (1 TB) for backing up work at home
