Message from MS counselors

You are invited to the final MS counselor coffee of the school year!

It’s the end of the year, and for many of the people in our community, it’s time for change.  We will take an in depth look at the transitions our kids experience and what we can do to support them and help them thrive before, during, and after the transition.  If you or your child are experiencing any type of significant transition, then this coffee is for you!

See you on Thursday, May 19 at 10:00am in the Elementary School Library!

Warm regards,

John & Karen

Message from Ms. T

Dear 5PT parents:

Let me begin by thanking you for a wonderful week and for taking the time to make me feel appreciated. I am writing to share some great news with you. This coming August, I will be taking the next step in my international teaching career. I will be relocating to Saudi Arabia to take a Gr. 4 position at Saudi Aramco Expatriate Schools. This means that I will be leaving Shanghai at the end of this school year. Let me reassure you that this will have no impact on your child’s learning because I will be here until the last day of school. This was a very difficult decision to make because I am leaving such an amazing and wonderful community! SAS has been my first international school. For this reason, and many others, SAS parents, staff and students will always hold a special place in my heart. I cannot thank you enough for all your support and the opportunity to work with your amazing children.

Kind regards,

Ms. T

MAP testing ~ April 2016

MAP Testing: Grade 5 students have their MAP test scheduled for April 11, 13 and 15. MAP tests will be between 10:40-12:10 on these days. M.A.P. (Measures of Academic Progress) is a computer adaptive assessment test. It is important that the students stay relaxed and NOT set score goals. If your child is sick, a make-up session will be offered.

You can help your child achieve their best by:

  • Not scheduling doctor appointments and other reasons to be away from school during these times.
  • Ensuring your child has adequate sleep the night before.
  • Ensuring your child has a good breakfast the morning of the test.
  • Ensuring your child brings a healthy snack to school.

CNY break

Dear 5PT parents,

I wish you a very happy CNY break! Since returning from winter break 5PT students have been working very hard and require a much needed break. Students finished up their Skyscraper projects; continued working on their Skyscraper research reports; their Book Club projects; started and completed Math Unit 5; and the science unit on matter, mixtures, and solutions. When 5PT students return we will: begin Math Unit 6, continue working on informational writing; and continue our science unit of earth systems.

Wishing you safe and happy travels,

Regards,

Ms. T
