Meet the Teacher, Ms. Yie

Ms. Yie, ES Art Teacher

My name is Misook Yie and I am an art teacher from Seoul, Korea. My family has been living abroad since 1992. We first lived in Hong Kong, then we moved in Shanghai in 1996. My husband currently owns a business here, and both my children have graduated from SAS.

This is already my 19th year teaching art at the Shanghai American School! I’ve been here to see the school grow into the great institution it is today and I am just as excited about this year at SAS as I was for my first year. Art class is an opportunity for challenges, creativity and fun, and I welcome you to look through this blog as a door into my classroom and the year’s progress. I love teaching art and helping students be inspired by their own creativity, and I enjoy watching them grow as much as I’ve enjoyed watching my own children grow. I am also very fortunate to work with my wonderful colleague, Jacquie Lian.

If you have any questions or just want to keep in touch, please feel free to contact me by email at

Here’s to a wonderful year in Art Class!
