Updates for the Week of 20 March

Quote of the Week:

In the modern age, we don’t need to know everything, but we do need to be able to talk to other people.

— David Baker

The Run Up to Spring Break

While there always is a lot happening at school, the weeks leading up to spring break seem particularly full. We enjoyed and celebrated multiple performances, events, athletic and intellectual contests, workshops, and activities last week, among them:

  • The wonderfully performed, beautifully staged musical Once on this Island;
  • China Cup Badminton at Puxi;
  • Friday Night Lights Soccer versus Concordia;
  • Our final, well-attended Admissions Coffee & Tour for prospective families;
  • The AMIS Band and Orchestra festival in Luxembourg;
  • The Intel Regional Science Fair in Chengdu;
  • The SAS Puxi Robotics Tournament;
  • The Shanghai Student Film Festival;
  • Several days of class visits and parent sessions by John Tummon, Senior Prevention Specialist with FCD.

Enjoy the break’s opportunity to rest and recharge: We will careen into our brief vacation at a fast and energetic pace, take a quick breather, and then sprint to the end of the year directly from our All-School Spirit Week our first week back in April.

Animal Rescue Fun Week

This whole week will be Animal Rescue Fun Week at PDHS with bake sales, “pie-in-the-face” action and — for the first time ever — The Puppy Play Pen.

On Friday, March 24, HS Animal Rescue presents Puppy Play Pen, an interactive event where students can interact with dogs. This event will take place between 10:30 – 1:30 outside of the cafeteria between the Eagle shop and the entrance to the school. Parents are welcome to come join us and play with these dogs, some of which are in need of foster parents or a forever home. Brochures will be available if families are interested in fostering or adopting. If any student or parent would like to attend and interact with the dogs, please pick up and return your signed form to the HS Office no later than March 23. This form must be turned in or the student will not be allowed to play with the dogs.

In addition to Puppy Play Pen, Animal Rescue will also be holding a bake sale selling not just delicious treats, but also our Pets of SAS Calendar.

We hope to see you there!
