We celebrated Dr. Suess’s Birthday by doing activities that reflected some of his books. The kids had a blast and caught some big fishes too.
I am excited to share pictures and videos from our new amazing Inline Skating unit. The students are picking up new skills quickly and are really enjoying learning how to skate. The students have even experienced skating while using hockey sticks to hit balls into the hockey goal.
You might be asking yourself, why are they teaching inline skating in school?
Some of the benefits the students will gain by learning how to skate at a young age include: developing their cardiovascular endurance, strengthening muscles, muscle toning, calorie burning, developing better balance, coordination, and agility. Another reason to learn how to skate is because it is a FUN social activity that children can do with their friends and family. I hope you enjoy looking at the videos and pictures. PLEASE remember make sure your child wears their helmet whenever they are skating, biking or skate boarding.
It has been a great and exciting start this year in Pre K P.E. I have been focusing on allowing the students to become comfortable with the physical education routines and being able to stop and start activities. We have just started work on our first unit Jumping, Landing and Moving. I have posted some pictures of the students trying to save the animals from “Volcano Island”. This activity was an imagination activity where students had to go through the jungle to save the animals that were stuck on Volcano Island after it erupted. We had a good conversation of what a volcano was and saw a quick video snippet of a volcano erupting which helped build the students understanding of a volcano.
