Lunch H.O.T. and Retest!!!

For anyone who wishes to go over their vocabulaire or grammaire quizzes come to lunch H.O.T. today.

 

The vocabulaire 1 retest will be this Friday (tomorrow) at lunch. the grammar 1 retest will be Tuesday when we return from the long weekend, also at lunch.

 

 

Lunch HOT!

For those who did not do well on the writing portion of Ch.3 Vocabulaire 1 quiz you are required to come to my classroom for lunch HOT Monday AND Tuesday (March 30 and 31) when we return from break.

Be in the french classroom by 11:17. You may bring your lunch, but do NOT be late.

This is a quick account of what we have covered so far…

GRADE 7

  • Finished Ch.6 Vocabulaire 1 and Grammaire 1 and completed the Book Pages and Cahier des Vocabulaire for those sections.
  • We covered Ch.6 Application 1 in class and the Book Pages should also be finished
  • Both A and B Day classes have taken the Ch.6 Vocabulaire 1 quiz. This will be handed back after the break
  • There was also a short group skit using words and phrases from Ch.6 Vocabulaire 1 and Grammaire 1. The prompt for the skit is at the bottom of page 187 in the Bien dit! textbook. It is #6 Scénario in the yellow portion marked “Communication”. The directions for the skit were the following,
    • Students were in groups of three
    • In your groups write a script and email it to me (margot.leonard@saschina.org)
    • Memorize your part and present to the class
  • Took the Ch.6 Vocabulaire 1 Quiz

 

 

8th Grade Intensive

The directions for the skit were the following,

    • Memorize your part and present to the class
  • Took the Ch.6 Vocabulaire 1 Quiz

Assignments to Date

Bonjour!

At this point you should have completed the Book Pages and Cahier des Vocabulaire et Grammaire for Ch. 3 Vocabulaire 1 and Grammaire 1.

We have gone over Ch.3 Application 1 in class and the book pages should also be complete.

Both A and B day classes have finished the Vocabulaire 1 quiz

A Day has also completed the Grammaire 1 quiz

 

B Day class will be taking the Grammaire 1 quiz when we return from break. Please be prepared.

Please check the blog regularly as I will not be using iCal. Your assignments and homework will be posted here for the rest of the school year.

As for current work, I will have that up shortly as well as a list of assignments from the last two weeks so that you can check that you are up to date.

CNY Oral Presentation – French 1C

You are to prepare a presentation to tell the class about your Chinese New Year holiday.

Your presentation must include:

1) description of events in chronological order (from Feb16 to Feb24)

2) places in town

3) chores

4) food

5) activities

6) feelings

7) people

8) weather

You are expected to:

  1. Use the passé composé with avoir and être
  2. Have a slideshow of at least 10 slides (including an opening and a closure slide). Your slides should have minimal writing, only brief descriptors
  3. Be prepared to answer questions about your holiday

You may use cue cards with brief bullet points in French to help you during your presentation. You will be assessed according to the following rubrics.

Your presentation must include:

  2. Activities you don’t do
  3. Weather expressions
  4. Days of the week, months of the year, and seasons
  5. Places
  6. Adverbs

Your presentation may or may not include:

  1. The futur proche
  2. The passé recent
  3. Expressions with avoir

You need to be prepared to answer questions on the spot about yourself.

You need to be prepared to ask questions to your peers about their activities.

You need to be prepared to be involved in three-way conversations.

  • Students have finished Ch2 Vocabulaire 1 book pages and cahier de vocabulaire et grammaire, and we will correct all these exercises next class.
  • During class today, students will work on Ch2 Grammaire 1 book pages and cahier de vocabulaire et grammaire. Students can collaborate and help each other.
  • Homework: whatever exercises students don’t finish in class need to be finished at home.

8:10 – 9:15 Gr.7&8 French 1B

  • 8:10 – 8:30 Interview preparations.
  • 8:30 – 9:00 Students take turns interviewing Mme Ballon about her experience as a student in France.
  • 9:00 – 9:15 Journal entry #8. Students take the last fifteen minutes of class time to write on their journals about what happened in class today.
    • Use the passé composé. Try to be more descriptive.
    • Students can use dictionaries, but no online translators.
    • If you don’t have your journal in class, you must write today’s entry on a piece of paper and submit.
  • No Homework today. If they don’t finish writing on their journal in class then that becomes homework.

If all students arranged to interview Mme Ballon at another time of the day, then you may watch the movie “Le Jour de Corneilles”.

11:55 – 1:00 Gr.6 French 1A

  • 11:55 – 12:15 Magazine article discussion. Students take turns telling Mr. Liu and the class what they learned from reading the French magazine.
  • 12:15 – 1:00 Games
    • Hangman. Using vocab words from Chapitre 1 to practice the alphabet.
    • Twister. To practice colors.
  • No homework today.
