Concert Clothing for Intermezzo Orchestra

Please note an important change in concert clothing for all Intermezzo Orchestra students:  you should wear all black. Please make sure it is a nice black shirt or blouse, and gentlemen should wear a black bowtie if appropriate.

If you are performing in multiple ensembles on Thursday night, you may simply wear all black during those performances as well. No need to change in the middle of the show.

Finale Homework

Concert Music, in-class assessment on May 11:

In lieu of a recorded homework assignment, you will perform an in-class assessment to demonstrate that you know your concert music well. You will perform with your small ensemble, a portion of our concert music – you choose a half of Lullaby or a movement from Vivaldi. You will 30 more minutes to practice with your group on Wednesday.

The rubric will include the usual playing assessment categories: tone quality, steady pulse and rhythm, articulation, dynamics, notes and intonation. Standard #1 will be assessed: “Sings and plays on instrument alone and in groups.”

Program Notes due May 13:

Use the worksheet to create program notes for our concert music. This should help the audience to better understand the music they hear and what you learned in class.

Program Notes

  • Lullaby – Justin, Gabrielle, Nina, Jun, Brian
  • Vivaldi – Julian, Wen-Hsin, Shana
  • Brahms Symphony – Joe
  • Aboriginal Rituals – Jessica
  • Momentum – Leo, Alan, Cynthia
  • Viva la Vida – Eunice, Kennie, Madison
