You MatterAugust 8th, 2015

Dear Parents,

We want to say that “YOU matter.” Your child matters to us as much as they matter to you. Just like you spend time listening to their dreams, supporting them in their struggles, and celebrating their successes, we too want to get to know your child in the same way. Just as you let your child fail and learn from those failures, we will do the same. We do this because we have HIGH EXPECTATIONS for your child; we believe they can do it if they put their minds to it. We know we can work as a team to ensure your child has a successful school year. We believe that our students are INCREDIBLE, and they can do anything, no matter what, and that we will provide them with many different opportunities to be creative, to learn, to work, and most of all to SUCCEED.

Dear 8th Graders,

Hi! I am Ms. Angie (8th Gr. EAL teacher), and I promise this will be your #BESTYEAREVER! We haven’t met yet, but every day this summer I’ve thought about you. I know that sounds odd – but please keep reading. I haven’t thought about you individually, because I don’t know who you are yet, but I’ve thought about you collectively. I’ve thought about the amazing group of 8th graders that will cross the threshold of my classroom soon!

I’ve thought about challenging you.

Iv’e thought about embracing your differences.

I’ve thought about your strengths.

I’ve thought about your weaknesses.

Before you walk through our door on the first day of school, think about YOUR genius. What are you an expert at? What do you enjoy? What can I learn from YOU? How are YOU going to change the world? I cannot wait to share my expertise with you, and for you to do the same!

Ms. Angie
